Universitas - Orientation in the world of knowledge is a monthly scientific journal that particularly aims to show the connections between knowledge and has the subtitle “Orientate! Knowledge! Act! ”Leads.

The work of the editorial team is supported by an advisory board made up of renowned representatives from various disciplines, including (as of 2018) Franziska Augstein , Gerald Hüther , Hermann Lübbe , Jürgen Mittelstraß , Julian Nida-Rümelin , Gerhard Roth , Friedrich Schorlemmer , Peter Steinbach (historians ) , Rüdiger Vaas , Gerhard Vollmer and Walther Christoph Zimmerli .

The magazine was founded in 1946. It was published by the S. Hirzel Verlag in Stuttgart until December 2010 and has been published by the Heidelberger Bücher-Zeiten Verlag since January 2011. This was founded in 2011 by Dirk Katzschmann, who previously acted as publisher and editor of the magazine and is still responsible for it.

Every month, Universitas brings a (often interdisciplinary ) focus topic from all areas of culture, politics, philosophy, humanities or natural sciences. In addition, there are other articles, interviews, reviews of current books and sound carriers as well as cartoons, puzzles and quotes. The kinderUNIVERSITAS is also published as a free supplement every three months.
