Unplanned is a2019 American drama film directed by Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman. The plot is based on the life story of Abby Johnson , played by Ashley Bratcher, and addresses abortion in the United States.

action

As a young volunteer with good intentions, the American Abby Johnson starts her work at Planned Parenthood . Years later she is herself the successful director of a planned parenthood clinic. After assisting with an abortion herself, she begins to question her profession, quits her job at Planned Parenthood and becomes involved in the rights movement , which leads to a conflict with her former employer.

Filming took place in Stillwater, Oklahoma , under the working title Redeemed . The budget was 6 million US dollars .

Unplanned was released on March 29, 2019 in the US by Pure Flix . The film received the MPAA age rating R in the USA (corresponds to a rating from 17 years), among other things because of an abortion scene shown, which restricted its marketing. The release in Canada followed on July 12, 2019.
