Her son spent the summer with her sister Maha in Lebanon, but then the war between Israel and Lebanon surprised everyone . Zeina immediately traveled to Beirut via Turkey, but she only arrives after the ceasefire and cannot find her son. Nobody is willing to take them to southern Lebanon either. Eventually, however, Tony, a taxi driver, agrees to drive her for a large sum. During their search for Maha and Karim, the two encounter the destruction caused by the war on the one hand and themselves on the other. Zeina learns that Tony is a Christian whose brother served in the South Lebanese Army and now lives in Israel . Finally, Zeina has to find out that Maha perished. Someone claims to have seen Karim taken to a monastery. Zeina speaks to her son on the phone and drives to the monastery. The boy she meets there is wearing Karim's jacket but is a different person.
