marketing

Shortly after Walker was signed to Friends of Nobody , a first video for the song 40 Bars was released. The label founder Vega also appears in this . The music video was produced by Helles Design . In the course of the “Nero Tour 2013” of the rapper Vega, Liquit Walker appeared as an accompanist at the first two concerts of the tour in mid-February. At the end of February 2013, a snippet was published in which the pieces from the album are presented in part. Another music video for the free song bomb, fire, gasoline followed on February 24th . The rappers Sido and Bass Sultan Hengzt are featured with guest contributions on the piece produced by DJ Desue . As a further album title, Deutschrapkanakke was subsequently implemented visually. As in the case of the first video, Helles Design was again responsible for production. The piece Bonnie Parker was implemented as a video as another song from Unter Wölfen . Bonnie Parker was presented by the Hiphop.de website. The creation of the music video was illustrated as part of a making-of .

From March 31 to April 4, 2013, the Aggro.tv website organized a theme week on Liquit Walker under the title Aggro Alarm . This began with the release of the freetrack Bei dir zu hause . This was followed by the publication of a music video for the song Mein DJ . Samson Schneiderman directed the making of the video. In addition, the snippet for the album and excerpts from a studio session with rapper Kool Savas were published. Two more music videos were shot for the album titles Intro and Immer noch Berlin . At the end of the theme week, a video entitled Acapella and Walker's contribution to the Aggro.tv series Shut up .

reception

criticism

The website Rap.de rated Unter Wölfen with seven out of a possible ten points. From the editor's point of view, BlackBarry, Walker is not reinventing rap, but rather concentrating on " proven virtues such as being down-to-earth, determined and a classic male image ". Rap.de finds praise for the rapper's vocal technique and the production. The piece Deutschrapkanakke is characterized as a " Manifesto of outsiders ". It is criticized that Walker equates the personally experienced rejection “ as a pale Ostler among dark-haired street rappers ” with the exclusion “ of people of supposedly foreign origin by the German majority society ”. Since he does not represent a minority as a German, the comparison is not appropriate. Let the world go round is described in the review as a " self-reflective song that reveals the wolf's reflective side ". The song Bonnie Parker is dedicated to Liquit Walker's girlfriend. The rapper manages to " sail around the cliffs of embarrassment elegantly " and to create a contrast " to all the harshness and coolness ".

In a review of the website Hiphop.de, Walker's album received eight out of a possible ten evaluation points. The editor Erich Unrau praises the very good, well-produced beats, the presentation style and powerful voice of Liquit Walker, the “ varied selection of topics ” and the guest rappers. On the other hand, for example, the “ somewhat too serious approach ” and the repetitive thematization of the city of Berlin could be rated negatively. The duration of the album is also “ tight ” at around 48 minutes . The piece Deutschrapkanakke is from the perspective Unraus the " strongest track " of the album. Both the instrumental and the text that is described as " valuable in terms of content " are highlighted positively. The " inflationary [...] use of the term 'Kanakke' " could, however, be interpreted negatively.

The hip-hop magazine Backspin Hip Hop Magazin described Unter Wölfen as a “ remarkably strong rap album ”. Already in the intro , Walker presented " angry rap, which however did not drift into battle-heavy ". Both the productions and the guest rappers Kool Savas, Sido, MoTrip and Vega received praise.

Reviews of other artists

The hip-hop musician Sido commented on Unter Wölfen in the form of short messages on the micro-blogging service Twitter . He explained that the release was a " good, solid album ". This is particularly true in view of the fact that it is Walker's debut album. While Sido praises the pieces Deutschrapkanake and Keine Wunder more , 40 Bars and Benny are rated rather negatively. In his opinion, the song Bonnie Parker does not fit Liquit Walker.
