Untere Marktstrasse 1 (Bad Kissingen)
The building at Untere Marktstrasse 1 in Bad Kissingen , the major district town of the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen , is one of the Bad Kissingen architectural monuments and is registered in the Bavarian Monument List under number D-6-72-114-357 .
history
The building was built as a three-storey historicizing corner building by the Würzburg master builder Ignaz Modl . The property comprises several parcels and was built in the style of the Wilhelminian era . Originally there were tall pointed helmets on the bay window on the eaves side . On the gable stood a larger than life knight figure of St. George , who fell onto the market square after being struck by lightning.
Initially, the property housed the Dauch's wine tavern, which was given up before 1914.
In 1913 the brothers Daniel and Louis Liebmann, textile merchants of Jewish origin, opened a textile shop on the property; Daniel Liebmann's wife Anna Liebmann helped out at times. During the time of National Socialism , the Liebmann family was persecuted. a. when on November 16, 1934 the shop was closed for a month because of alleged "unjustified price increases" and Daniel and Louis Liebmann were taken into protective custody. In 1942 Anna and Daniel Liebmann were deported to the Izbica ghetto ; the exact time of death of the Liebmann couple, remembered by two stumbling blocks in front of the property , is unknown.
