history

Headquarters in Achim-Uesen

At the end of the 17th century, Dieter Hermann Friedrich Wiebe was known as a grower and master carpenter in Danzig . At the beginning of the 18th century, the Wiebe family moved to Dörverden and founded their own carpentry business there in 1848. The Dörverden church left a piece of land to the Wiebe house, which is still used today for corporate purposes. The family business has grown continuously over the years and is now in the hands of the 6th generation.

In 1932 the company got into track construction . In the following years, the focus was on machine-based track construction. The rapidly growing German economy in the 1950s to 1970s led to the demands on the railway lines and thus to the expansion of the rail network. The first track laying machine was put into operation in 1958.

In 1977 the company founded the first subsidiary to expand the range of services in addition to track construction. In 1988, the company won its first foreign order with a track construction project in Belgium. With the growing machine park and increasing number of employees, the new administration building, which is the headquarters of the group, was moved into in 1993.

In 1998 HFWiebe Gleis- und Tiefbau GmbH, founded in 1990, and Hermann Wiebe GmbH & Co. KG, founded in 1992, merged to form GBM Wiebe Gleisbaumaschinen GmbH.

The 1000th employee joined the company in 1999. Just before the turn of the millennium, HFWiebe put the first RPM into service in 2002. The RPM 2002 was conceived together with the Wiebe group; the largest track-laying machine in the world was unique at that time. The establishment of international subsidiary communities began in 2000. In 2002 the group's machine park increased by another RPM.
