The song was originally intended for Aretha Franklin , but when she was rejected, Ross accepted it. Upside Down was released on June 25, 1980 and was a number one hit in the United States , Australia , New Zealand , Switzerland , Norway and Sweden .
The track is 4:07 minutes long, with Friend to Friend on the B-side of the single .
Music video
The music video does not contain any plot and consists mostly of cut scenes. In some scenes Diana Ross poses in front of the camera in different clothes and pictures of her are also shown.
