Coordinates: 30 ° 34 ' S , 151 ° 24' O Uralla Shire is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area is 3,226.5 km² and has about 6,000 inhabitants.
Uralla is located in the northeast of the state about 510 km north of the metropolis of Sydney and 490 km south of Brisbane . The area includes 53 hamlets and hamlets, including Arding, Brushgrove, Kentucky, Kentucky South, Kingstown, Rocky River, Torryburn, Uralla, Wollun and Yarrowyck, and parts of Bundarra and Dumaresq. The seat of the Shire Council is located in the city of Uralla in the southeast half of the LGA, where about 2,400 residents live.

The Uralla Shire Council has nine members who are elected by the residents of the three wards (three each from Wards A, B, and C). These three districts are defined independently of the localities. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
