Urs Bärtschi (* 2. February 1957 in Adelboden ) is a former Swiss ice hockey player and coach, who during his career as a player among others, the EHC Kloten and EHC Biel was in use, and with this in 1981, and in 1983 the Swiss championships won . His sons Deny and Patrik were also ice hockey players.

Career

Bärtschi spent his junior years at EHC Adelboden before moving to EHC Arosa in the National League B in 1972 . There he matured under the wing of the then coach Jürg Ochsner to become a national league player. Ochsner took Bärtschi with him to Kloten in 1974 as part of the mega-transfer between EHC Arosa and EHC Kloten .

In 1980 the President of the EHC Biel, Willy Gassmann , recruited Bärtschi with the famous words “You Urs, what are you breaking?”. Bärtschi is said to have asked for 120,000 Swiss francs. A high sum for the time. In 1981 Bärtschi won his first championship title with Biel. At the time, the winger, who sometimes had to help out in defense, stormed alongside cult striker Richmond Gosselin and scored 33 goals. In 1983 Biel was able to repeat the feat under coach Kent Ruhnke , Bärtschi was the team captain that season .

In 1984 Bärtschi returned to the EHC Kloten. After three seasons he moved to the Leventina for HC Ambrì-Piotta , where he spent two seasons. In 1989 Bärtschi followed the call of star player Bernie Johnston to EHC Bülach , where the " storm of the century" Rüger - Koleff -Bärtschi became the attraction of the league. In 1993 Bärtschi ended his career at the age of 36 with a short guest appearance at HC Thurgau .

International

During his active career, Bärtschi played 91 games for the national team, as well as five B World Championships between 1981 and 1986. At the B World Cup in 1986 in Eindhoven, he was promoted to the A group. Shortly afterwards, Bärtschi announced his resignation from the national team. His reasoning: “Would Fetissov play? No, thanks. "
