Kent Stuart Ruhnke (born September 18, 1952 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a former Swiss - Canadian ice hockey player ( right wing ) and current coach . Most recently he coached EHC Olten in the National League B . His daughter Laura is also a former ice hockey player and was part of the Swiss women's national team. His son Corey is also a professional ice hockey player.
Career

Ruhnke began his career at the University of Toronto , while doing a game for the Barrie Flyers from the OHA. In addition, at the end of his college days he was twice in the National Hockey League for the Boston Bruins . This was followed by two years in the Winnipeg Jets franchise from the World Hockey Association , where he also went on the ice 47 times for the Jets' farm team, the Binghamton Dusters , in the American Hockey League .
His first club in Europe was the SC Riessersee from Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the 1978/79 season . He later moved to Zürcher SC , where Ruhnke worked as a player- coach.
Trainer
His first coaching station was EHC Biel, where he worked between 1981 and 1984 and became Swiss champion with the club in 1983 . He then returned to North America and coached the Dalhousie University ice hockey team .
Between 1985 and 1987 he was in charge of Friborg-Gottéron . This was followed by four seasons at EHC Olten , with whom he made promotion to the National League A in 1988 . In the seasons 1988/89 and 1989/90 he returned to the ice for two games each time. Further coaching stations in the National League A were the EV Zug , again the EHC Olten, the ZSC Lions , the SC Bern , the EHC Basel and the HC Lugano . He won other Swiss championship titles in 2000 and 2004. From 2009 he was back as a coach at his first club, EHC Biel, on the gang. From December 2011 until the end of the 2011/12 season he was a coach at the NLB club EHC Olten.
