Patrik Bärtschi (born August 20, 1984 in Bülach ) is a former Swiss ice hockey player who was active in the Swiss National League A for EHC Kloten , SC Bern and ZSC Lions , among others . His father Urs and older brother Deny were also ice hockey players.

Career

Patrik Bärtschi began his career as an ice hockey player at EHC Kloten, for which he was active in the National League A from 2000 to 2006 . During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2002 in the seventh round as a total of 202 players by the Pittsburgh Penguins , for which he however never played. After being on the ice for SC Bern for three years , Bärtschi received a contract with the reigning Champions Hockey League winner, the ZSC Lions, for the 2009/10 season . With the Zurich team he won the Victoria Cup in 2009 against the Chicago Blackhawks . In 2012 he became Swiss champion with the same club .

In January 2017 he had to end his career because of a hip injury.

In mid-March 2018, EHC Kloten announced Bärtschi's commitment to the new 2018/2019 season as head of strategic development and junior coordinator.

International

For Switzerland , Bärtschi took part in the U18 Junior World Championships in 2001 and 2002 , as well as the U20 Junior World Championships in 2002 , 2003 and 2004 . He was also part of the Swiss squad at the 2003 , 2005 and 2008 World Championships .
