Ursula Helmhold (born April 26, 1956 in Recklinghausen ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) and was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from 2003 to 2013 .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in Rinteln , Helmhold completed training as a nurse in Hamburg and Hanover . She then studied German, biology and politics at the Technical University of Braunschweig to become a teacher for elementary and secondary schools. Since 1985 she has been working as a teacher in a college for elderly care. She did further training as a gerontotherapist and quality auditor and had been the deputy headmaster since 1989. She is also a freelance trainer and quality advisor in geriatric care facilities.

She is married and has two kids.

politics

In 1985 Ursula Helmhold became a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen . From 1986 to 2016 - with an interruption from 1996 to 2001 - she was a member of the Rinteln City Council. She was chairman of the Greens parliamentary group and deputy mayor.

In the state elections in 2003 , she entered the Lower Saxony state parliament via the state list. In the parliamentary group of the Greens, she was spokeswoman for women and social policy. From 2007 to 2010 she was deputy group leader and parliamentary director of her group. In the state elections in 2008 , she was the top candidate for the Greens. From 2008 to 2013 she was the spokeswoman for her group for social affairs, health and the media. In the state election in 2013 it did not happen again.
