Ursula Richter (photographer)
Irma Ursula Johanna Richter (born June 23, 1886 in Radebeul ; † August 9, 1946 in Greifswald ) was a German dance and theater photographer .
Life
Richter, born in Radebeul near Dresden in 1886, was believed by her son to be self-taught. Since January 1913 at the latest, she has been working as a portrait photographer in Dresden and taking pictures in the theater. Above all, she photographed both modern artistic dance and theater dancers in the dance sector. From 1914 to 1939, studios in the southern suburb of Dresden not far from the main train station are recorded. In 1939 she closed her studio and moved to the island of Rügen .

The other estate of Ursula Richter was considered lost after the acquisition of around 100 positives between 1984 and 1986. On the occasion of a photo exhibition about her sister, the Dresden sculptor Etha Richter , in the Sächsische Landesbibliothek - State and University Library Dresden 2004, the part of her photo legacy, believed to be lost, with family photos from before 1945 as well as around 2,500 positives from theater performances before 1945 by the Deutsche Fotothek Dresden can be acquired.
