The Urvantsev Rocks ( Russian Скала Урванцева Skala Urwanzewa , German 'Urwanzewkliff' ) are rocky outcrops in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . In the Mühlig-Hofmann Mountains they rise 8 km southeast of the Skorvetangen ridge .

Norwegian cartographers mapped them using measurements and aerial photographs of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960). Scientists on a Soviet Antarctic expedition named it in 1961 after the Soviet geologist and polar explorer Nikolai Nikolajewitsch Urwanzew (1893–1985). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred the Russian name to English in 1970.
