Uschi Elleot , born in Lucia Margarete Toelle (born April 18, 1899 in Berlin , † 1975 in New York City ), was a German silent film actress , stage actress and singer .

Live and act

Lucia Toelle was the younger sister of Carola Toelle . As a stage name, she chose the backwards spoken version of her family name. With the help of her sister, whom she introduced to the director Nils Chrisander , Uschi Elleot entered the film business in 1919. Chrisander cast Elleot in three of his productions in quick succession, after which they also hired other directors. At the same time, Uschi Elleot also appeared in music productions, for example in Ernst Steffan's operetta Das Milliardensouper at the Berlin theater in 1921 , where she had partners with Ralph Arthur Roberts and Hilde Wörner .

Meanwhile married to the Austrian conductor and composer Siegfried Niclas Kempner (born 1886), Uschi Elleot withdrew from the film business in the mid-1920s. Instead, she now appeared as a singer and, for example, sang a record in 1929 as partner of Walter Jankuhn with songs from the operetta The Merry Widow . On October 11, 1933, coming from Bremen, she set foot on US soil for the first time in New York. Lucia Toelle married Gert von Gontard there and moved with him to California. After the divorce (around 1944), she stayed in Brazil, where she lived as Lucia Margaret Drew. She returned to New York in the early 1960s, where she died in 1975.
