Uschi Horner

Uschi Horner (born October 20, 1967 in Vienna ) is an Austrian theater director .

Career

Uschi Horner completed her school days in Vienna. After training in musicals at TanzForumWien, she made her first stage experience in the Simpl cabaret. In 1989 and 1990 Horner worked as a spokeswoman and presenter for the children's program Am dam des at ORF . After studying singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, she worked as a chorus in over thirty productions at the Vienna State Opera and the Salzburg Festival . During this time she also began her solo career as a concert and oratorio singer.

The spontaneous takeover of a stage led her into the realm behind the scenes. Through assistance to directors such as Roman Polański , Friedrich Meyer-Oertel , Michael Temme and many more. She learned the craft of directing and has been working as a freelance director ever since. Her previous work includes Grease , Little Shop of Horrors , The Soldier's Story , Bastien and Bastienne , Rinaldo , The Bird Trader , Help, Help, the Globolinks , Im Weißen Rössl , Don Giovanni , The Barber of Seville , The Old Maid And The Thief , One Night in Venice , Around the World in 80 Days and L'italiana in Algeri in Europe and the USA.

She also works as a pedagogue for scenic design and music education (Wiener Musikverein) and writes text books and libretti . In 2010 she directed at the Brucknerhaus in Linz.
