Uta Kron

Uta Kron (born February 25, 1943 in Würzburg , † April 1, 2020 in Berlin ) was a German archaeologist .

Live and act

After studying classical archeology as well as Greek, Latin, history and prehistory and early history at the University of Würzburg and the Free University of Berlin (FU Berlin), Uta Kron passed the state examination in Greek, Latin and history at the University of Würzburg. 1972/73 it was with the work the ten Attic Phylenheroen doctorate and worked from 1973 as a researcher at the lexicon iconographicum mythologiae classicae (LIMC). In 1973/74 she received a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) ; 1976–1979 she was a research assistant in the Athens department of the DAI (Samos excavation). From 1979 to 1980 Uta Kron worked as a research assistant at the University of Zurich and from 1980 to 1991 as a research assistant and university assistant (C 1) at the Free University of Berlin. 1994 habilitation them at the Free University of Berlin from 1994 to 1997, she taught at the University of Munich . From 1997 until her retirement in 2008 she was Professor of Classical Archeology at the University of Jena . Kron was a corresponding member of the DAI.
