Ute Gebhardt

Ute Gebhardt (* 1963 in Erfurt ) is a German television journalist , director and author. She created numerous television reports and documentaries.

Life

Gebhardt studied education at the Erfurt University of Education and graduated in 1987 with a diploma. She then completed a research course in literary studies and received her doctorate in 1990. Her dissertation A dealt with the topic of writers' diaries: possibilities of the genre in the literary process of the GDR . She then worked for three years as a research assistant at the University of Education, receiving a habilitation grant from the State of Thuringia.

1992 began Gebhardt as a freelancer for the MDR to work, fours years later as a freelance TV journalist for MDR, ARD and arte . Between 1997 and 2001 she was also regularly responsible for reports and portraits for the ORF culture magazine “Treffpunkt Kultur”. Among other things, she was the director and author of the third part of the documentary series At that time in the GDR , for which Karsten Laske and Gunnar Dedio were awarded the Adolf Grimme Prize in 2005.

In 1996 Gebhardt moved from Erfurt to Vienna or, according to other sources, to nearby Weidling . She is married and has a grown son.
