Legends is a German documentary - TV series , which since 1998 on ARD is shown. Each episode portrays a well-known personality ("legend"). So far, 13 seasons have been broadcast (as of 2012).

The series is produced by MDR and SWR . An episode usually lasts 45 minutes. In order to create a uniform format, it was always shot against a blue background made of felt that the team carried with them. However, this approach has been abandoned for practical reasons. The content remained constant: only very well-known people are presented, whose biography often has a break. According to the concept, politicians and athletes should not belong, but there were later exceptions.
Senior editor of the series is Gerolf Karwath . According to him, episodes about German celebrities and celebrities from the 1950s are particularly popular with the audience.
