The Royal Princess is a cruise ship of the US shipping company Princess Cruises . The type ship of the Royal class is the third ship to bear this name and was the largest passenger ship built by the Italian shipbuilding group Fincantieri when it was delivered.

history

The Royal Princess was ordered together with the sister ship Regal Princess on February 17, 2010. Construction began on March 15, 2011 with the cutting of the first steel plates at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone . The keel was laid on October 20, 2011. The launching followed on August 16, 2012. The ship was taken over by the owner on June 4, 2013. The ship was christened on June 13, 2013 . Godmother is the wife of England's heir to the throne Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge ("Kate"). The maiden voyage began on June 16, 2013.
