The Sea Princess is a cruise ship of the US shipping company Princess Cruises . She belongs to the Sun class.

history

The ship was laid on May 28, 1997 at Fincantieri in Monfalcone . On January 23, 1998, the ship was undocked. On November 27, 1998, the ship was delivered to Princess Cruises and sailed under the Liberian flag with Monrovia as its home port . tLady Caroline McPhail christened the Sea Princess on December 17, 1998 in Fort Lauderdale , and on December 19, 1998 she entered service in Fort Lauderdale.

The Ship as Adonia

In 2000 the ship was sold to CP Shipping Co and sailed under the flag of Great Britain with home port London . From 2003 the ship operated as Adonia for P&O Cruises . Since 2005 the ship has been sailing as Sea Princess under the Bermuda flag with home port Hamilton for Princess Cruises.

Data

The ship, built in 1998, is around 261 meters long and 57 meters high. The crew is 910 men. There is space for around 2,000 passengers on board, divided into 1,008 passenger cabins. Sea Princess guests have 15 decks available. As on all Princess Cruises ships, the language on board is English.

In November 2018, the ship served together with the sister ship Pacific Explorer and the Pacific Jewel in Port Moresby as the hotel ship for the APEC summit.

Incidents

  • In 2006, 2014, 2016 and at the turn of the year 2017/18, infections with human noroviruses occurred on board the ship . Hundreds of passengers and several crew members fell ill, which earned the ship the nickname Pandemic Princess .
  • Three Canadians, a man (63) and two women (22, 28), were discovered in August 2016 on the Sea Princess in Sydney with 95 kg of cocaine in their hand luggage and had to leave the ship.
