Ute Lemm

Ute Lemm (* 1974 in Schwerin as Ute Kreisel ) is a German opera and theater director .

Life

Lemm was born in Schwerin and studied musicology , modern German literature and Italian philology in Bonn and Bologna .

In 2005 she did her doctorate at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Bonn with the thesis "Musicology in West Germany after 1945". In Schwerin she worked between 2001 and 2006 for the festival “ Ostracized Music ” and from 2004 as a concert dramaturge for the Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle Schwerin.

Since 2006, she was Assistant to the General director at the Mecklenburg State Theater Schwerin, from 2012 to 2016 she was employed there as an opera director. The concept of the “Opera Lounge in the E-Werk” was designed by her, as well as the third German performance of the opera by Jake Heggie Dead Man Walking and the Schwerin premiere of Stravinsky's The Rake's Progress . Since 2014 she has been chairwoman of the Richard Wagner Association Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

From 2016 to 2020 she worked as artistic operations director and orchestra director at the Erfurt Theater. Since August 2020 she has succeeded Peter Grisebach as General Director of the Schleswig-Holstein State Theater and Symphony Orchestra

Private

Lemm is married and has two children.
