Ute Remus
Ute Remus (* 1941 in Hamburg ) is a German actress , radio presenter and editor as well as reader and writer . Among other things, she worked in the editorial department of the WDR 2 radio broadcast at home and on the go and was in charge of the women's political radio magazine Abwasch on WDR 5 .
Life
Ute Remus was born as the third child of her mother Klara and her father Ferdinand as a "latecomer" in 1941 in Hamburg. Her father died in 1951 when she was ten years old, and she attended the modern language grammar school in Hamburg-Rahlstedt.
After training as an actress, she worked at theaters in Hamburg (“Theater am Mundsburger Damm”), Karlsruhe and Baden-Baden . At the local Südwestfunk she gained her first radio experience as a speaker, in radio drama and in the field of reportage, before she switched to WDR in 1976 as a radio editor with moderation tasks and moved her center of life to Cologne. From 1974 she conceived and directed the new radio series Everyday Conflicts in WDR 2, for which she received several awards - in 1989 for an episode about German-Turkish love affairs with the Civis Radio Prize for special program achievements . In the same year, a broadcast on Section 218 caused a complaint from anti-abortion opponents to the Broadcasting Council , which was partially upheld.
Remus was politically active in a variety of ways, including serving on the board of the Republican Club in Cologne from 1972 , supporting the feminist magazine Courage and later campaigning for the improvement of the situation of women in media professions.
After starting her retirement as a radio journalist, she self-published an audio book about the artist Emma Gertrud Eckermann and a homage to the artist Lou Straus-Ernst on CD. After extensive research, Remus published a “novel in fragments” in 2013 including an audio book about her own family history.
In her place of residence in Brühl, she is involved in the Max Ernst Museum , in the local art association and, since 2015, in refugee aid, in many cases as a participant in readings.
Ute Remus is mother of a son (* 1966).
