The Utsteinen (Norwegian for outer stone ) is a nunatak in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It rises 6 km north of Vikinghøgda and the main group of the Sør Rondane Mountains .
Norwegian cartographers, who named the Nunatak after its peripheral location, mapped it in 1957 using aerial photographs of the American Operation Highjump (1946–1947).
