Uwe Jessen (born November 11, 1971 in Lügumkloster , North Schleswig ) is a graduate in business administration and Secretary General of the Federation of German North Schleswig-Holstein, the umbrella organization of the German minority in Denmark .

Life and work

Uwe Jessen graduated after passing the Abitur at the German School for North Schleswig studying for Master of Business Administration (cand. Oecon.) At the University of Aarhus , which he completed with the state examination in 1999. From 1998 to 2001 Jessen was assistant director and project manager at Sønderjyllands ErhvervsCenter, where u. a. Head of the EXPO 2000 project “Cultures, Languages, Minorities”. From 2001 to 2004 he was employed in various management positions at Rödding Municipality and from 2006 project manager of sprogfocus.dk, a project of VUC Sønderjylland . As a part-time job, Uwe Jessen was a freelance EU advisor to the Federal Union of European Nationalities from 2000 to 2005 . In 2005 he was elected as the first and so far only representative of the Schleswig Party according to the special right of representation for the German minority in Denmark as a city council member without voting rights in the municipal council of the new large commune Hadersleben .

In 2009, Jessen became General Secretary of the Federation of German North Schleswig (umbrella organization of the German ethnic group in North Schleswig). He is chairman of the municipal Schleswig Party in Hadersleben and city council member for the Schleswigsche party in the municipality Hadersleben and member of the Committee on Economic and Culture.
