Uyeasound
Uyeasound is a place with about 100 inhabitants on the south coast of the British island of Unst , the northernmost inhabited island in the archipelago of the Shetland Islands . The settlement is located on the sea road of the same name to the south opposite, a good two square kilometers large island Uyea . The A968 , the only national road on the island, runs west of the village , from which the B9084 branches off directly to the center of the settlement on the main village road, East Road .
Attractions
To the east of the town in Uyeasound Eastside is Muness Castle , built in 1598 , the northernmost castle in the British Isles. Located near the castle is Uyeasound Kirk , a church that was built in 1850. The year 1843 on the church is incorrect. There is also a small lighthouse built in 1980 to the west of the settlement. The menhir by Uyea Breck and the menhir by Clivocast are located north of the sound at the Clivocast farmstead belonging to Uyeasound .
