The father played the accordion for the guests and the mother sang. Both parents carefully led the children to music. After finishing school, he first completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter. Musically, he was self-taught and taught himself to play instruments, sheet music, and principles of composition. This marked the beginning of the most important phase of his life and creative activity. By 1948 most of his pieces appeared in print and as recordings by the RA Dvorský publishing house.
