Väinö Mäkelä

Väinö Mäkelä ( Väinö Ilmari Mäkelä; born December 20, 1921 in Mouhijärvi , † December 19, 1982 in Tampere ) was a Finnish long-distance runner .

Remaining 5000 m he was eighth at the 1948 Olympic Games in London and fourth at the 1950 European Athletics Championships in Brussels.

In 1949 he was Finnish champion in cross-country skiing on the short distance and in 1950 over 5000 m. He set his personal best over 5000 m of 14: 20.0 min on August 29, 1949 in Gothenburg .
