The Västgötaspets is an FCI recognized Swedish dog breed ( FCI Group 5, Section 3, Standard No. 14 ).
Origin and history
Although the Västgötaspets are similar to the Welsh Corgi , the prevailing view is that the Västgötaspets are originally a Swedish breed. It is difficult to say whether the Vikings brought dogs of this type from England to Sweden or from Sweden to England, or whether there was a parallel development in England and Sweden.
