Víctor Hugo Peña Grisales (born July 10, 1974 in Bogotá ) is a Colombian cyclist .

Life

Víctor Hugo Peña started his career at Telecom-Flavia in 1997 . In 1999 he moved to Vitalicio Seguros . There he secured his first successes. At the Giro d'Italia 2000 he won a time trial, as well as a stage in the Tour of the Netherlands . In 2001 he rode for the US Postal Service cycling team . In 2002 he won a stage and the overall ranking of the Tour of Murcia . After Lance Armstrong 's team had won the 2003 Tour de France team time trial, Peña wore the yellow jersey for three days due to his strong performance in the prologue ; in total, he made the tour four times. He and his team won another team time trial at the Vuelta a España in 2004 . In 2005 and 2006 Peña drove for the Swiss ProTour team Phonak . In 2007 he drove for the Unibet.com team and from the 2008 to 2009 season he drove for the Rock Racing team .

In 2000 and 2004 Peña started at the Olympic Games, each in the individual time trial and in the road race . In 2004 in Athens he finished 14th in the time trial, but he couldn't finish the road races on both occasions.

In the 2013 season, Víctor Hugo Peña drove for the amateur team Supergiros-Blanco Valle-Redetrans.
