Vítězslav Ďuriš (born January 5, 1954 in Plzeň , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey player who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League from 1977 to 1991 .

Career

Vítězslav Ďuriš began his career as a hockey player at Baník Karviná , before he was active during his military service from 1977 to 1979 at the army club Dukla Jihlava in the first division , the highest Czechoslovak division. After participating in the 1979 World Cup , the defender played for a year for his league rivals TJ Škoda Plzeň and with Czechoslovakia at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid before signing a contract as a free agent with the Toronto Maple Leafs . On October 11, 1980 he came against the New York Rangers to his debut in the National Hockey League and was able to record his first NHL goal on January 20, 1981 in Vancouver. It remained the only one with twelve assists in 53 games this season. With him was his compatriot Jiří Crha in the squad of the Leafs. The following season he spent entirely on the farm team with the Cincinnati Tigers in the Central Hockey League . At the start of the 1982/83 season he was back in Toronto and played 32 games with the Maple Leafs, who had now also committed his compatriots Peter Ihnačák and Miroslav Fryčer , the last on December 23, 1982 with the St. Louis Blues .

From 1984 Ďuriš was in Germany in the ice hockey Bundesliga for the ECD Iserlohn on the ice. For the 1987/88 season he moved to EV Landshut . During the 1988/89 season he moved from EV Landshut to EHC Freiburg , where he played again with Jiří Crha and Miroslav Fryčer. He ended his career at the age of 37.
