Vörie is a village in the Hanover region and the smallest district of Ronnenberg .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1252 as "Vordie". The village developed from a Franconian noble farm, which was supposed to secure a ford .

Vörie is dominated by agriculture; there has been no retail trade in the village since the mid-1970s. The Landwehr ( called Ihme further downstream ) flows through Vörie . There is a now dilapidated watermill on it . The Vörier Berg (147.6 m) named after the place is about 2 kilometers away in a southerly direction.

The merger of Vörie with Ronnenberg and the surrounding communities Benthe, Empdele, Linderte and Weetzen created the new community Ronnenberg on July 1, 1969. On March 1, 1974, her Ihme-Roloven was incorporated. On December 12, 1975, the new municipality of Ronnenberg received city rights.

Culture and sights

In Vörie there is the "millennial oak", which also adorns the village coat of arms. The tree has a trunk circumference of 7.5 meters at a height of one meter, making it one of the mightiest trees in Lower Saxony (see also: List of striking and old tree specimens in Lower Saxony ). After a lightning strike on September 19, 2014, the interior of the tree caught fire despite the fire brigade's intensive efforts to extinguish the fire. Then the oak had to be trimmed massively. The chest height is 7.39 m (2016).

The village community center, which was built in 1977 and offers space for 80 people, is located in the village . The fire brigade is housed in the building.

The village is connected to traffic by a district road and the Ronnenberg city bus.
