Coordinates: 51 ° 12 ′ 18.6 ″  N , 10 ° 27 ′ 39.4 ″  E The VEB Microelectronics "Wilhelm Pieck" Mühlhausen (short: VEB MPM ) was a publicly owned enterprise (VEB) in the combine microelectronics Erfurt . Along with VEB Robotron-Meßelektronik “Otto Schön” Dresden, the company was the second producer of the small computers developed in the GDR. In addition, electron tubes and pocket calculators , such as the MR 609 and SR1, were also manufactured. The company was named after Wilhelm Pieck . The headquarters were in Mühlhausen at Eisenacher Strasse 40.

Company history

The company's roots go back to 1952, when VEB Röhrenwerk Mühlhausen was founded. Electronic tubes were mainly produced. By 1967 the tube factory rose to become the largest receiver tube producer in the GDR. In 1971 the production of low-power semiconductor diodes began. In 1982 the company was renamed VEB Mikroelektronik "Wilhelm Pieck" Mühlhausen . In 1984 the production of the small computers (KC) began, perhaps the best-known product of the VEB MPM. In 1987, for its 35th anniversary, more than 10,000 small computers had been produced.

On July 1, 1990, the day of monetary, economic and social union , VEB MPM was renamed de-pro-ma elektronik GmbH . From it, the companies were TH electronic GmbH , TH Parkner GmbH and Sameco electronic GmbH spun off . De-pro-ma elektronik was liquidated on June 30, 1991 .
