The State Youth Choir VOICES is the State Youth Choir of the Austrian province of Vorarlberg .
history
VOICES was founded in 2003 by the Vorarlberg Choir Association to give young people between the ages of 16 and 28 the opportunity to sing at the highest possible level. This initiative created a new musical training program for talented young people. The project choir develops challenging choral literature in several work phases and then presents itself to the public. VOICES is supervised and directed by the Vorarlberg choir director Oskar Egle .
On October 26, 2004, Vorarlberg Governor Herbert Sausgruber awarded VOICES the Youth Bravo of the State of Vorarlberg.
In May 2005 the choir had its first own concert "voices4you" with a recording by ORF Vorarlberg . In October there was a joint concert of the Austrian State Youth Choirs at the choir directors' congress in Linz and in December a performance at the joint concert on the occasion of the Alpine Choir Christmas 2005 in Kaltern , South Tyrol with a recording by: RAI .
In April 2006, a joint concert with Oskar Egles choirs followed on the occasion of his 25th anniversary as a choir director and the performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem. The German tenor Jörg Brückner and the South Tyrolean soprano Klara Sattler were hired as soloists . in November there was a concert "Joyful Voices" with the combo of the Vorarlberg Jazz Orchestra in Dornbirn . In 2007 the choir took part in the youth choir festival in Lignano Sabbiadoro , Italy and in the opening of the federal youth singing 2007 in Bregenz . In October he appeared at the Austrian premiere of Luis Bacalov's MISA Tango in Graz with Cantanima and the chamber choir of the Auersperggymnasium Passau. In November the tour continued to Passau (Germany) and to Schwarzenberg, home of Vorarlberg. In addition, VOICES is engaged several times a year to provide background music for events organized by the Vorarlberg state government. In 2008, the choir presented itself as one of the first contemporary Austrian choirs to be positioned with the choir in front of the orchestra.
repertoire
VOICES deals with choral literature across all styles, countries and times - from traditional folk songs and Christmas carols to pop songs, African folk songs, gospels and spirituals to contemporary pieces and spoken choirs. Secular and spiritual projects are pretty much in balance. The most demanding work so far has certainly been Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem .
