In 2001, the VR Bank Bad Orb-Gelnhausen eG merged with the Raiffeisenbank Gelnhausen eG to form today's VR Bank Bad Orb-Gelnhausen eG. In 2014 the bank celebrated its 150th anniversary.

The bank traces its beginnings back to the "Advance Payment Association of Gelnhausen", which was founded on September 8, 1864 by 32 Gelnhausen citizens. Since then, a total of 12 formerly independent institutes or cash associations have come together to form today's VR Bank Bad Orb-Gelnhausen eG.
