Alexander Aloysius McGuckian SJ (born February 26, 1953 in Ballymena , County Antrim , Ireland ) is an Irish religious and Roman Catholic Bishop of Raphoe .

Life

Alexander Aloysius McGuckian occurred on 21 October 1972, the religious order of the Jesuits in. He studied Spanish and Latin at University College Dublin and Philosophy at the Jesuit Study Center in Milltown Park and Catholic Theology at Regis College, University of Toronto . McGuckian received on 22 June 1984, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

From 1988 to 1989 McGuckian was as a teacher at Clongowes Wood College operates and from 1990 to 1991, he completed his Tertiate in Tamil Nadu . He was then director of the Jesuit Communications Center in Dublin . Alexander Aloysius McGuckian made perpetual profession on February 15, 1997 . On June 9, 2017, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Raphoe. He was ordained episcopal on August 6th of that year by the Archbishop of Armagh , Eamon Martin . Co- consecrators were his predecessor Philip Boyce OCD and the Bishop of Down and Connor , Noël Treanor .
