Lawrence Duffy

Lawrence Duffy (born November 27, 1951 in Magheracloone , County Monaghan , Ireland ) is an Irish clergyman and Roman Catholic Bishop of Clogher .

Life

Lawrence Duffy studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology at St. Patrick's College in Maynooth . He received on 13 June 1976, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Duffy was 1976-1978 parochial vicar in Enniskillen from 1978 to 1994 Castleblayney and 1994 to 1998 at the Cathedral of St. Macartan in Monaghan . Lawrence Duffy then worked as a Fidei Donum priest in the diocese of Kitui in Kenya until 2002 . After returning to his home diocese in 2003, Duffy became a pastor in Ederney . In 2007 he was appointed pastor in Clones . Since 2013 Duffy has been pastor in Carrickmacross and cathedral dean at St. Macartan's Cathedral in Monaghan. From 2013 to 2016, Lawrence Duffy was also Vicar General of the Diocese of Clogher.

On December 8, 2018, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Clogher. The Archbishop of Armagh , Eamon Martin , ordained him episcopally on February 10, 2019 ; Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland, Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo , and the Bishop of Down and Connor , Noel Treanor .
