Kieran O'Reilly SMA (born August 8, 1952 in Cork , Ireland ) is an Irish religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Cashel and Emly .

Life

Kieran O'Reilly entered the novitiate of the Society of Africa Missions in Wilton, Cork , in 1970 and then studied philosophy and theology at St. Patrick's College in Maynooth . In 1974 he received a bachelor's degree in literary studies and in 1977 in theology. 1978 followed a diploma in missiology. He made solemn vows on April 10, 1977. On June 17, 1978, Kieran O'Reilly was ordained a priest . He was then a pastor for two years in the Archdiocese of Monrovia in Liberia . In 1980 he was after Rome sent, where he developed the Pontifical Biblical Institute attended and in 1984 the licentiatein Biblical Studies . He then taught biblical studies at the seminary in Ibadan, Nigeria . From 1990 to 1995 he was a member of the Provincial Council of the Irish Religious Province of his institute, based in Cork . In May 1995 he was elected Vicar General and in 2001 Superior General of the Society of Africa Missions. In 2007 he was re-elected for a further term.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him bishop of Killaloe on May 18, 2010 . He was ordained episcopal on August 30 of the same year by the Archbishop of Cashel and Emly , Dermot Clifford ; Co- consecrators were Bishop Emeritus of Killaloe, Willie Walsh , and Bishop Emeritus of Ndola , Noel Charles O'Regan SMA.

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Cashel and Emly on November 22, 2014 .
