Michael Neary (born April 15, 1946 in Castlebar , County Mayo ) is Roman Catholic Archbishop of Tuam in Ireland .

Life

After attending St. Patrick's National School in Castlebar and St Jarlath's College in Tuam , Neary studied theology at St. Patrick's College in Maynooth . On June 15, 1971, Neary was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Tuam. In 1975 he became a doctor of theology. From 1978 to 1981 Neary studied in Rome. On May 20, 1992 Neary was appointed titular bishop of Quaestoriana and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Tuam. He was ordained bishop on September 13th of the same year by the Archbishop of Tuam Joseph Cassidy ; Co-consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland, Archbishop Emanuele Gerada , and Joseph Cunnane , former Archbishop of Tuam.

On January 17, 1995, Michael Neary became Archbishop of Tuam.
