The Diocese of Ferns ( Latin Dioecesis Fernensis , Irish Deoise Fhearna , English Diocese of Ferns ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Ireland with its seat in Wexford . However, the main church of the diocese, Saint Aidan's Cathedral, is located in Enniscorthy , about 25 km north of Wexford.

Founded in the 7th century by Aidán and confirmed by the Synod of Rathbreasail in 1111 , the Diocese of Ferns covers most of County Wexford and parts of County Carlow and County Wicklow . It is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Dublin as a suffragan .
