Václav Melzer

Václav Melzer (born August 26, 1878 in Wilkischen near Mies , Austria-Hungary , † May 1, 1968 in Domažlice ) was a Bohemian, Czechoslovakian botanist and mycologist . Melzer mainly researched deafblings . He discovered Russula sardonie var. Mellina and Russula helodes , among others . The mycologist Josef Velenovský named Boletus melzeri after Melzer. The solution developed by Melzer for mycological staining is now known as Melzer's reagent .
