Vaitupu is a village and capital of the Hihifo district in the Kingdom of Uvea , which belongs to France as part of the French overseas territory of Wallis and Futuna .

Vaitupu is located in the northeast of Hihifos and also on the northeast coast of the island of Uvea , which belongs to the Wallis Islands . The village is widely scattered and consists mostly of small houses. Only in the east of the village, near the coast, between the two churches Eglise Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul and the Chapelle Saint Pierre Chanel, a little further north is there a slightly higher density of houses.
