Hihifo ( Wallisian for "West") is one of the three districts of the Kingdom of Uvea in the French overseas territory of Wallis and Futuna in the Pacific . It borders the Hahake district in the south .

Hihifo is also home to the Hihifo Airport , the Wallis and Futunas international airports .

geography

Hihifo covers about the northern third of the island of Uvea and the barely inhabited islands to the north and northeast of it , which form the northern outer ring of the Wallis Islands . The smaller islands include Nukutapu , Nukuteatea , Îlot Ulu ʻiutu , Nukuloa , Nukulaʻelaʻe and Nukufotu .

The district consists of five villages with their own village chief, who provide a lazy man as administrator of the district:
