Vaka'eitu

Vakaʻeitu is an island in the Tongan archipelago of Vavaʻu .

geography

Vakaʻeitu is located a little south of the center of the archipelago, in the extension of the island of Nuapapu . To the west, the island is bounded by the Ava Pulepulekai Channel , which separates it from the northwestern neighboring island of Hunga with its daughter islets. Together with Langitau and Lape in the east and with Nuapapu in the north, Vakaʻeitu encloses the bay of Matamaka , in which the islets Alinonga and Kulo are located together with the reef Tangatasito . The island of Ovaka connects to the south .

climate

The climate is tropical hot, but is tempered by constantly blowing winds. Like the other islands of the Vavaʻu group, Vakaʻeitu is occasionally hit by cyclones .
