Career

society

Courtois began her career in her Belgian homeland with the first division club VDK Gent , for whom she played between 2008 and 2012. During this time she won the Belgian Cup (2009) and won the Belgian Supercup twice (2009, 2011) before moving to VC Oudegem in 2012 , where Libera played the following season. After a season without a club (2013/14) and an engagement with the Polish first division club Budowlani Łódź , Courtois was again without a club.

After the injury-related loss of captain Myrthe Schoot , the Belgian received a contract with Dresdner SC that was limited until the end of 2015 , in which a contract option was stipulated in the event of a long-term failure of Schoot, which was ultimately not drawn. With the end of his contract in Dresden, Valérie Courtois was again without a club from January 2016. During her time without a club, she kept fit with the Belgian clubs VDK Gent and Asterix Kieldrecht . In July 2016, Dresdner SC announced the return of Valérie Courtois for an initial season. There the Libera finished third with the team.

In mid-May 2017, Dresdner SC announced the departure of Libera. Dresdner SC already has an internationally experienced Libera under contract with “Team Leader Myrthe Schoot for the 2017/18 season” and “there is currently no budget available for another player in the position of acceptance specialist”, the club announced. Courtois moved to the French Ligue A to SF Paris Saint-Cloud , where he signed a one-year contract for the 2017/18 season. In the summer of 2018, she extended this contract by one year until the end of the 2018/19 season, at the end of which she announced the end of her career.

National team

Courtois plays for the Belgian national women's volleyball team . With the team she reached 3rd place at the European Volleyball Championships in 2013 and 2nd place in the European League in the same year , where she was also named the best Libera of the tournament. At the beginning of 2018, she ended her career in the national team.
