Valentin "Vali" Hotea (born August 26, 1967 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian director .

Live and act

From 1987 to 1989 he studied photography at the Bucharest Art School. He graduated in film directing in 1995 from the National University of Theater and Film Arts "Ion Luca Caragiale" Bucharest, majoring in film directing. Valentin Hotea is a member of UCIN (Romanian Association of Filmmakers). His diploma film, The Great Adventure (Marea aventură) , was awarded the prize for best director at the international film festival in Costineşti in 1994 and the Prix Arte ( Arte TV Prize) at the Henri Langlois diploma film festival and was later bought by the TV broadcaster Arte.

After graduating, Valentin Hotea was the director of several music videos, commercials, short films, documentaries, films and television series (mini-series).

In 2004 Valentin Hotea was a member of the jury of the Festival Prix ​​Italia in the category TV Drama, Series & Mini-series. In 2005 he was a representative of the Romanian public television company TVR in the jury of the Fiction category at the Festival Prix ​​Europa in Berlin.

The feature film Roxanne (produced by HiFilm Romania, Cor Leonis Films Hungary, Abis Studio Romania and realized with the help of the Nipkow Programms- Berlin, Cottbus Co-Production Forum, San Sebastian Co-Production Forum, Media Business School) took place at the film festival in August 2013 von Locarno in the category Cineasti del Presente (Filmmakers of Today) its world premiere.
