Valentin Mihai Mihăilă (born February 2, 2000 in Târgovişte ) is a Romanian football player who is currently under contract with the first division club CS Universitatea Craiova . The winger has been a Romanian U21 international since October 2019 .

Valentin Mihăilă comes from the junior department of CS Universitatea Craiova , to which he moved from Viitorul Știința Craiova in 2015. On October 24, 2017, he made his debut in the 2-0 away win against Sepsi OSK Sfântu Gheorghe in the Cupa României in the first team when he came on for Vladimir Screciu in the closing stages . In this 2017/18 season he was also in three league games in the matchday squad, but was never considered.

In the top Romanian league he made his debut on July 29, 2018 (2nd matchday) in the 0-1 away defeat against Sepsi OSK Sfântu Gheorghe. Already on the next match day he was able to prepare both goals of his team in the 2-2 draw against FC Botoșani . In the course of this 2018/19 season he made his breakthrough in the starting lineup. On April 19, 2019 (6th matchday of the championship round), he scored his first goal for Universitatea Craiova in a 1-0 away win against Astra Giurgiu . The winger ended the season with one goal in 29 league appearances.

National team

Mihăilă played five friendly international matches for the Romanian U18 national team from August 2017 to February 2018 . In six appearances for the U19s , he scored six goals from October 2018 to March 2019.

He has been the Romanian U21 international since October 2019 . On November 14, 2019, he scored all four goals in the 4-1 home win against Finland in qualifying for the U21 European Championship , one of which was later attributed to the Finn Juho Hyvärinen as an own goal.
