Valentin Stang

Valentin Stang (born May 22, 1876 in Bad Niederbronn , Alsace, † June 18, 1944 in Berlin ) was a German veterinarian and university professor .

Life

Stang studied veterinary medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine Stuttgart and was a member of the RSC-Corps Suevia Stuttgart . At Normannia Hannover he later became an honorary AH .

After receiving the license as a veterinarian, he was in 1901 with the thesis "To knowledge of toxin production of the bacterium avicidum" at the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Berne Dr. med. vet. PhD . In 1904 he became a district veterinarian in Strasbourg in Alsace and then from 1909 to 1918 a state inspector for animal breeding in what was then the realm of Alsace-Lorraine . From 1919 to 1923 he worked in the Reich Ministry of Food and Agriculture and in some other offices. Here Stang was responsible for general animal breeding issues. In 1923 he became a full professor for animal breeding and animal feeding studies at the University of Veterinary Medicine Berlin, due to reorganization from 1934 at the agricultural-veterinary faculty, from 1937 until his death at the veterinary faculty of the University of Berlin . He was President of the German Veterinary Council and from 1927 to 1929 Rector of the University of Veterinary Medicine in Berlin . In 1936 he became a member of the Leopoldina .
