Valentin Triller
Valentin Triller (* 1493 in Guhrau , Silesia ; † 1573 in Nimptsch , Silesia) was a German pastor and author and composer of hymns .
Life and works
Triller was a pastor in Oberpantenau (today: Ratajno ) near Nimptsch (today: Niemcza ) in Silesia. In 1555 he published the Silesian Singebüchlein in Breslau , in which he recorded medieval songs as well as his own texts .
From Valentin Triller comes u. a. the melody of the hymn Den die shepeten praised sehre (Quem pastores laudavere) ( EG 29), melody and first stanza for We want to sing joyfully God (EG 167) as well as the additional stanza There was an angel bright and clear to Martin Luther's Christmas song Vom Himmel up, there I come and the melody comes and let's honor Christ .
