Valentine Arrieta

Valentine Arrieta (born April 29, 1990 ) is a Swiss athlete . She specializes in the sprint , both on flat courses and hurdles . It became the Swiss Athletics Youngster of the Year 2006 for speaking Swiss voted junior athlete of 2007.

At the age of only 16 she represented Switzerland in the first division European Cup in 2006 in Prague as the youngest of the team, in 2007 she improved the Swiss U18 record over the same distance and won the silver medal at the European Youth Olympic Festival . In 2008, together with Marisa Lavanchy , Jacqueline Gasser and Grace Muamba , she improved the Swiss junior record in the 4 x 100 meter relay to 45.41 seconds.

After two years in which Arrieta was less visible, she was able to qualify in the 400-meter hurdles for the Universiade and for the U23 European Championships in 2011 , where she reached the final. In addition, she ran a new U23 Swiss record with the 4 x 100 meter relay.

Arrieta lives in the canton of Neuchâtel and starts for the CEP Cortaillod .
